– Haruki Murakami, Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World.
You all know I have a soft spot for Murakami. I just finished this book. I liked it. I loved this quote.
This quote is now emblazoned across my nails of the week. Pictures to come!
siestaforever a réagi à votre billet : Actually a bit disappointed
Don’t you have anyone there who can grab one of those for you? :) xx
haha the only person i know who will be sticking around this weekend is Hot Rod and I seriously doubt he’d be down to fight off a crowd of rabid makeup lovers just for me lol.
anyways, it’s probably all for the best. i don’t really need any...

Actually a bit disappointed
that I’m going to Quebec City this weekend. Sephora’s opening a new store like 3 blocks from my apartment and they are giving away the most adorable Montreal tote bags! But unfortunately I’m leaving Thursday night and they open Friday so I bet they’ll all be gone by the time I go there Monday after work. *sigh* I guess this just means I’ll have to continue to avoid...

A friendly reminder to please always shake out...
Last night, as I was in the slow part of falling asleep, I felt something on my face.
I sluggishly brushed it off my face onto the blanket, sleepily assuming that it was just a large dust bunny on my face.
It slowly occurred to me that perhaps I should wonder how a gigantic dust bunny made it onto my face. Groggily I picked the thing off of my blanket to see what it was. I dropped it back on the...

The next phase of protest plans.
Seriously guys, the longer I’m here, the more I’m coming to sympathize with the protesters, even though they disrupt me going about my life DAILY.
Actually, come to think of it, the protesters themselves have only impeded my day-to-day activities a few times. It’s the police that make every trip a hassle… hmmm…
I’m going to...

Awkward question.
My office is having a “5 à 7”/happy hour tomorrow.
A group of my coworkers, including my boss, were chatting about it when all of a sudden the dude stagiaire bursts out with “Hey, maybe this is [g-nomey’s] first time in a Montreal bar!”
*all eyes turn to me*
Coworker: Is this your first time in a Montreal bar?
Now what am I supposed to say to this?
“Well...

Hot Rod's patches no longer have patches!
…because he cut the bottom half of his pants off at the holes in the knees, leaving him with awkwardly long cut-offs. He’s got the fashion. Fashion fashion straight up fashion.

Saints-martyrs-Canadiens
Is my new favourite Canadian town name. Sorry, Saint-Louis-du-Ha!-Ha!, you’ve been replaced.
Judging from all of the regional maps I’ve been reading lately, Quebec does it right when it comes to town names, especially ones starting with “Saint” or “Sainte”, which seems to comprise at least 90% of all town and street names.

DIYP cooking cooking #9: acai berry yogurt
The woman I’m subletting from left me with a bunch of her groceries to eat. it’s pretty awesome in the case of breakfast cereal and korean pancake mix. it’s less awesome in the case of acai berry juice. see, the stuff she has isn’t really juice. i discovered this fact when i tried pouring it into a glass because i wanted a cup of juice. it’s thick, brown, gloopy, and...

Another long day of adventures!
Yesterday was another lovely day here. It was 30C and sunny with just enough breeze to make it bearable.
We started off by going to Schwartz’s, a famous smoked meat shop that is known for its delicious smoked meat sandwiches. They were ok. Lots of meat, and I don’t really like meat. Then I got the meat sweats. But all in all not bad!
I meant to take a picture of the sandwich...
I don't like Grimes.
There. I said it. Does that make me a bad canadian?
No, I don’t think it does. I just don’t think she’s a very good musician/performer/whatever the fuck she thinks she is. So there.

Riot
I had a very fun and interesting day today. I will blog about it after I take a desperately needed shower. Until then, this is what happened within the last 5 minutes as I was coming home.
So within the last day or so the government of Quebec declared the protests illegal as well as student gatherings. Sounds fascist to you? It sure does to the students, who have continued some protests all day....

A very "Montreal" day.
[[MORE]]Yesterday I went on an epic walk, trying to find a “anti-consumerist food store” where they sell bulk food. I found it, but it’s only open monday to friday. so i know where i’m going tuesday after work!
It was a beautiful day. Almost 30C!
I love that Montreal has more of a street art culture. There was tons of protest street art too.
I’m a bit scared...

In other words, does that mean you started making music that is targeted towards the world?
G-Dragon: This might sound funny but the reactions we've been receiving from overseas fans recently were pretty much expected. Studying pop music that me and Teddy grew up listening, we've been comparing our tunes with other pop songs. And what we have now is just the result of everything we had planned. We're confident about YG's music because this was carefully planned. We've been planning for this moment for so long so I'm not overwhelmingly surprised by it.

Strike.
It feels like everyone is on strike. Air Canada threatens to strike almost weekly, the students here are striking, and now the office beside ours is on strike too. I haven’t the foggiest idea why.
Everyone I talk to wants to know if I want to join the strikers some night. I don’t. I have a lot of reasons why I don’t, but mostly I feel like striking is not a method to resolve...

Fun fact: So I live right by the main protest...
for those of you who didn’t know, quebec’s post-secondary students are “on strike”. Not all of them are on strike, but the ones that are are totally killing the post-secondary party for those people who, you know, want their education in a timely manner for a whole gamut of good reasons.
They’ve been protesting every night for weeks and I thought yesterday was the...

Sick and anxious.
I think I might secretly be a clean freak. A clean freak hoarder? Is that possible?
At any rate, dirt is beginning to trouble me deeply. My apartment is rather clean but there is really nasty mold in the vent over the stove and in the shower. It’s not spreading, but it still bothers me and I can’t clean it out properly (although I lysol both every few days).
And now...

and i regret every moment of it. Sure, it tastes nice, but it tool like 2h (it’s almost 8 now!), it was hard, i burned myself frying sweet potatoes, and i set off the fire alarm.
not fun.
at least there’s leftover so i don’t have to do this again for at least a couple of days.
